Mississauga travel guide

Mississauga, Ontario is part of the Greater Toronto Area, but has been recently making a name for itself as a distinct municipality. Unlike other areas of Greater Toronto, Mississauga is primarily a center for corporations and industry, rather than just residential areas. The city is productive and independent as a debt-free city since 1978 and has the global headquarters for over 60 Fortune 500 companies in its corporate center.

Mississauga has easy access to the Pearson International Airport, which helps its economy flourish. As well, its proximity to Toronto and its accessibility make it a great location for those wishing to live or visit outside of the big city, but close to the cottage country of Ontario and the shores of Lake Ontario.

One of the most popular sites in Mississauga is the Benares Historical House, which dates back to the early 1900s where nearly all of the furnishings in the house belonged to the family that built it. It is a wonderful way to experience life in Ontario over 100 years ago. The house is surrounded by beautiful landscape and is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Things to do and tourist attractions in Mississauga are many to choose from. Strolling the waterfront, windsurfing or canoeing at Jack Darling Park and visiting the Living Arts Centre (LAC) in Mississauga are great pleasure for the visitors.

For those looking for a unique dining experience, be sure to reserve a table at The Old Barber House, which is located in a Victorian mansion built in 1862 and has seven elegant and intimate dining rooms. For a more relaxed atmosphere, The Snug Harbour Seafood Bar and Grill is located on the water, where you can enjoy a meal with live jazz and blues music and a walk along the waterside.

Mississauga has a varied nightlife. At My Apartment nightclub, you can find different music to suit your taste, depending on the night. If you're looking for an after work drink, Crocodile Rock often has live music and a pub style atmosphere.

During the day, you can find your inner child at Playdium, a site for video games, go karts and a baseball dome. Playdium is a great place in Mississauga to bring your kids for the day or your date, for a uniquely fun afternoon. There's something for everyone here, and it puts Mississauga on the map as something more than just part of Greater Toronto.
