California Travel Guide

The State of California is really a destination within a destination, its diversity of culture, climate, scenery and leisure activities offering the visitor just about everything. The natural beauty and magnificence of National Parks such as Sequoia and Yosemite provide stark contrast to the city life of San Francisco and Los Angeles, whilst those looking for high-speed entertainment can partake in pastimes ranging from skiing to surfing. Whether you want to visit theme parks or museums, glorious beaches or rolling vineyards, movie stars’ homes or ghost towns, California has it all.

California is a unique and unforgettable travel destination encompassing world-famous cities, gorgeous beaches, and breathtaking landscapes. This state offers more inviting travel options than anywhere in the world.

For families looking for magical vacation memories, the obvious choice is Southern California’s Disneyland Resort and Theme Parks. In addition to the original Disneyland park the area offers a second Disney park, three resort hotels within the amusement park, and Downtown Disney, an amazing entertainment and shopping district. The Disney Resort complex is overflowing with world-class entertainment, beloved characters and iconic attractions. California travel is a magic.

California tourism offers an array of stunning public lands and national parks. The three major attractions in this category are Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park. Mist-shrouded waterfalls, mountain lakes, wildflower meadows, breathtaking rock formations, and raging rivers abound in these rugged, uninhabited areas and offer innumerable options for outdoor pursuits. Yosemite, a World Heritage Site, covers 750,000 acres and boasts two of the tallest waterfalls in the world, numerous glacier-polished granite domes, and El Capitan, the largest piece of granite in the world. At Sequoia National Park, be prepared to experience vertigo and a stiff neck after spending hours marveling at the enormous sequoia trees, including the world’s largest living tree, General Sherman. Miles of hiking trails provide incredible scenic views of the rugged Great Western Divide. Kings Canyon was carved by the Kings River to a depth of 8,000 feet, which makes it deeper than the Grand Canyon. Take the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway to meander through the canyon and experience several of the parks top attractions. Travel California with endless tourist attractions.

California is perhaps best known for Hollywood, the movie industry and incredible celebrity status. Take Starline’s famous Celebrity Homes minibus tour to visit (curbside only, of course!) the dazzling homes of more than 40 of Hollywood’s top celebrities. Then head over to the Hollywood Walk of Fame starting from Hollywood and Vine, to see over 2,400 commemorative brass stars immortalizing celebrity icons. Don’t miss Grauman’s Chinese Theater, an 84-year-old pagoda style theater where innumerable movie and music stars have left their hand and footprints in the cement outside the building.

For exciting urban adventures, consider a few days in San Francisco. This diverse cosmopolitan city offers several unique districts each with their own must-see attractions. The possibilities are endless here and you may wonder how you can possibly see and do everything that interests you. For a hassle-free tour of various parts of the city, just hop on one of the many cable cars that wander the hills and pass by several of the major sights.  For another fun option, several companies are offering guided Segway tours as well as hourly rentals if you prefer a more independent pace. Consider spending a day at Golden Gate Park to get a dose of both nature and culture – the world-class de Young Museum is here, as well as the California Academy of Sciences and Conservatory of Flowers. Ride to the top of the 9-story tower at the de Young museum for outstanding views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the entire city. Finish the day by renting a paddle boat and roaming peacefully around tranquil Stow Lake. A travel to California never fails to surprise travelers.
