Georgia travel offers pristine beaches along its coast, gorgeous mountain scenery, fantastic golfing, camping and fishing, and whitewater rafting among scores of other options. Those looking for more urban adventures can spend time at one of the fabulous world-class resorts while exploring some of Georgia’s most delightful cities and towns.

Atlanta, the state’s most famous city, is a sophisticated metropolis. Home to four major universities, the Zoo Atlanta, the High Museum of Art, the Atlanta History Center and the King Center, Atlanta offers something for every interest. The urban sprawl is manageable with the MARTA public transportation system, an easy and inexpensive way to explore the city.

For a more laid-back experience, head to Athens, an eclectic city that has become the intellectual and cultural center of Georgia. Athens, located about 60 miles east of Atlanta, impresses visitors with the Georgia Museum of Art on the University of Georgia campus. The museum displays constantly evolving exhibitions and provides fantastic tours including specially created children’s and family programs.
